Sales in Indonesia Halted, Peugeot Shifts Focus to After-Sales Service

Peugeot’s distributor in Indonesia, PT Astra Peugeot, is concentrating on after-sales service even as sales activities in the country have been halted by the company’s principal, Stellantis. This service is provided to alleviate concerns among consumers who have long owned Peugeot vehicles.

The after-sales service applies to all Peugeot models, including the latest ones like the Peugeot 3008, 5008, and 2008. Even these models are still eligible for free after-sales service according to the existing regulations.

“After notifying Peugeot consumers in early May 2024 regarding Stellantis’ policy, Astra Peugeot reaffirms its commitment to providing after-sales service to consumers,” reads the official statement from Astra Peugeot.

Especially for owners of Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008, Astra Peugeot also guarantees that the warranty period remains valid. So, consumers need not worry even though Stellantis has announced the suspension of Peugeot’s activities in Indonesia.

“The warranty service remains valid at official Astra Peugeot workshops and also at other Astra Group designated workshops,” the official statement explained.

Meanwhile, Fadjar Tjendikia, Peugeot Aftersales Service Head, stated that this service is their commitment to consumers in Indonesia. So, even though it has officially closed, consumer interests are still a priority.

“The after-sales service guarantee from Astra Peugeot is a unique value. This is our commitment to consumers in Indonesia. We continue to provide the best service to consumers without exception,” he promised.

Previously, Stellantis halted Peugeot’s sales activities in Indonesia as part of its business growth strategy in the Southeast Asian region. However, it is strongly suspected that sales were stopped due to unsatisfactory figures.

According to data from the Indonesian Motor Vehicle Industry Association (Gaikindo), French-made cars only recorded bulk sales of 199 units in 2023. Then, from January to March 2024, the company only sold 28 vehicles. These sales figures are significantly lower compared to 2022 when Peugeot vehicle sales reached 451 units.

Executive Leader of PT Astra Peugeot Rokky Irvayandi stated that they, as the responsible party for Peugeot vehicle sales, respect the decision. “Based on information from its principal, Stellantis, they have decided to halt Peugeot’s sales in Indonesia,” he said.
