Zeekr electric cars have finally entered Indonesia. The premium electric cars under the umbrella of Geely Holding Group are very confident in entering the Indonesian market, even though they will compete in the very small niche of premium luxury.
JinHong Lin Darwin, Managing Director of PT Premium Auto Prima, Zeekr’s distributor in Indonesia, said on Wednesday (5/6/2024) that the current Indonesian electric car market is indeed dominated by electric cars priced under Rp 500 million. However, he is confident that there will always be consumers for premium electric cars.
This condition makes him confident in bringing Zeekr to Indonesia. The reason is that Zeekr’s premium electric cars not only offer luxury but also the latest technology that cannot be matched by existing electric cars.
“Therefore, we do not demand high sales volumes. Zeekr’s cutting-edge technology makes us believe that this electric car will be able to drive the development of the electric vehicle landscape in Indonesia,” he said.
Meanwhile, Alex Bao Zhuangfei, Head of SEA Region Zeekr, said that Indonesia is an important market for them. According to him, Zeekr electric cars have advantages that can attract the Indonesian public.
“Other luxury brands have a good reputation, technology, materials, and design. We also have them; we have luxurious designs, technology, and designs like European brands,” said Alex Bao Zhuangfei.
Alex mentioned that the concept of combining luxurious and stylish European design with advanced Chinese automotive technology is an added value offered by Zeekr to its potential new customers in the country.
“We have luxurious and premium designs; the added value is that we have the latest technology for electric cars. Combining these two things gives us more options compared to other brands,” he said.
During its debut in Indonesia, Zeekr will bring two electric car models, namely the Zeekr X SUV and a luxury MPV, the Zeekr 009.
“Initially, we will indeed fill the premium car segment. After that, we will slowly fill other segments,” promised JinHong Lin Darwin.
