Xiaomi SU7 Electric Car Criticized for Being Narrow

The Xiaomi SU7 electric car was criticized for being narrow. President of Xiaomi China Lu Weibing immediately made an explanatory video to answer this criticism.

Autopro reported, Tuesday (19/3/2024) that the criticism started when netizens saw Lu Weibing driving a Xiaomi SU7 while attending an official Xiaomi event in Shanghai, China. At that time, it seemed that Lu Weibing was really uncomfortable sitting in the back seat of the car.

To the point that there was no distance between Lu Weibing’s legs and the car seat in the front.

“Based on its dimensions, the Xiaomi SU7 has a length of 4,997 mm and a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. But in the photo it looks like Lu Weibing is really uncomfortable sitting in the back,” wrote Autopro.

This condition makes many netizens doubt the comfort of the Xiaomi SU7. The reason is that many people have high hopes for the electric car made by Xiaomi to compete with the electric car made by Tesla.

Realizing that many people were criticizing it, Xiaomi immediately moved quickly. Lu Weibing immediately provided clarification via video. In the video he even proves that the Xiaomi SU7 is not too cramped for passengers sitting in the back.

He said the photo circulating recently occurred because the front passenger seat had been pushed back to its maximum. As a result, Lu Weibing looked cramped sitting at the back.

“With a normal front seat position, I, who is 178 centimeters tall, still feel comfortable in the back seat,” he explained.

According to Autopro, Xiaomi’s very quick response to criticism proves that the Chinese technology company is very open to criticism. Previously they had also revised the Xiaomi logo on the back.

At that time, many Chinese people criticized the Xiaomi logo for being too big on the back of the car. Xiaomi immediately answered this criticism by making the logo smaller.

It is known that the Xiaomi SU7 will be officially launched and marketed on March 28 2024. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun confirmed that orders for the Xiaomi SU7 are still increasing and have now exceeded 100,000 units.

Currently, the official selling price of the Xiaomi SU7 has not been announced. However, several rumors say Xiaomi is targeting the middle and upper market segments with the SU7, with prices that could range from 250,000 to 370,000 Yuan or the equivalent of IDR 551.1 million to IDR 815.7 million.
