Wuling Motors claims the population of their electric car, Wuling Air ev, has reached 11.000 units. This figure is quite fantastic considering the age at which the Wuling Air ev was first launched on August 11 2022 at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2022 (GIIAS).
At that time Wuling launched two variants of the Wuling Air ev, namely Standard Range and Long Range. The number of variants has become more complete after Wuling added an entry level variant, Wuling Air ev Lite at GIIAS 2023.
Dian Asmahani, Brand & Marketing Director of Wuling Motors, said that currently the total population of the Wuling Air EV has reached 11,000 units since it was launched in August 2022. For the best-selling type, he said that currently it is still dominated by the Long Range variant.
“(Best selling) Air ev Long Range. Currently Long Range (sales) is still at 90 percent. “Air ev Lite at GIIAS’s SPK (Vehicle Order Letter) reaches 20 percent,” said Dian to journalists in Jakarta, some time ago.
The surge in Air EV sales is also due to the newest type, namely the Lite version which was launched at GIIAS 2023. This is the cheapest variant of the Air EV which is priced at IDR 188.9 million after receiving a VAT discount incentive from the government.
The difference between the Wuling Air ev Lite and other variants is the exterior and the features embedded in it. This variant does not have audio equipment and only has one airbag for the driver.
Regarding specifications, the cheapest variant of the electric car from Wuling still uses a Lithium Ferro-Phosphate battery with a capacity of 18 kWh. On one full charge, this car can travel a distance of up to 200 kilometers.
Just like other variants, Air ev Lite also provides convenience in charging with the easy home charging feature. Owners can charge the battery at home with a minimum power of 2,200 Watts.
Currently, Dian revealed that Wuling Air ev is one of the sales contributors in Indonesia. The reason is, the number has exceeded the previous best-selling model, namely the Wuling Confero.
“We talked about last year, number two was Air ev, first was Confero. “So there has indeed been a shift,” he said.
