Wuling Air EV Wide Body, EV Race Car with Cost IDR100 Million

The Wuling Air EV Wide body is an electric car which has been modified to resemble a racing car has attracted the attention of visitors to the Indonesia Modification & Lifestyle Expo (IMX) 2023, at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Senayan, Central Jakarta.

Currently, electric cars are considered difficult to modify, even just changing the rims requires a lot of consideration. The reason is, it will affect performance, especially battery consumption.

However, this assumption was shattered by BTX Concept, which collaborated with Wuling to modify the Air ev. Using the right materials can make an electric car “dressed up” to look more attractive.

The Wuling Air ev modified by BTX Concept displays widebody inspiration by widening the car’s fenders. The addition of lips to the front bumper and wings, as well as the blue, red and white striped livery, makes this electric car look like a racing car.

Even though the modifications made by BTX Concept look simple, they require quite a large amount of funds to complete. The component that takes up quite a lot of money in the electric car with the turquoise color is the air suspension.

“The cost is around IDR 90 million to IDR 100 million. “The problem is there is air suspension, and these are not stickers, so the color is really from the paint,” said Rendy Riupassa, BTX Concept representative when introducing the car at the JCC, Friday (29/9/2023).

Even though it has a widebody concept, the modified Wuling Air EV electric car can still be used for daily mobility. The use of air suspension will also make the car taller according to the driver’s wishes.

“This bodykit does not add weight, it can still be used daily. There are no problems as long as I use it every day. “But of course the installation must be done correctly, the results will be appropriate without reducing anything,” said Rendy.

However, Rendy admits that there is an additional burden by installing a bodykit on the Air EV which can reduce the distance traveled. However, the additional weight is not too significant because it uses carbon fiber and the workmanship is very detailed.

“There is definitely a load, but we responded to it by using the original widebody mold so it’s not as heavy as the custom one. “Because it’s molded, everything is light and using carbon fiber is also lighter than resin or plastic,” he said.

For the Wuling Air EV widebody package made from carbon fiber, Rendy said BTX Concept is selling it starting at IDR 25 million. This price does not include painting and installation services.
