Why Hyundai Stargazer X Uses Disc Crakes at The Rear, This is The Answer

PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) launched the Hyundai Stargazer X as a new model at GIIAS 2023. A number of changes were made to differentiate it from the previously circulated Stargazer.

Stargazer X is presented based on consumer demand for a crossover car that is tough to bulldoze all terrain. Therefore, it takes various components that can support its performance such as the braking system.

HMID decided to install front and rear disc brakes on the Stargazer X. The Stargazer uses only front disc brakes.

Bonar Pakpahan, Product Expert Assistant Manager of PT HMID, said that this was an improvement. Given that there are advantages to using disc brakes at the rear.

“If you use disc brakes, it has a better ability to dissipate heat. Yes, when the brakes work to clamp the disc intensely it will generate heat, especially when you hold it,” said Bonar when met in Solo, Central Java, Monday (28/8/2023).

“By using disks, the heat generated from this process can be wasted more quickly. While the enemy of good braking ability is overheating or too high,” he continued.

The use of disc brakes at the front and rear also maximizes the Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) feature. Bonar explained that the device could only work if the entire braking system used a disc.

“Besides the differentiation factor, another function of using the rear disc brake is like that. Slightly increase the braking performance of the Stargazer, especially safety features, such as EBD. To be able to apply EBD technology, you have to use discs. That’s my understanding,” he said.

For your information, the Hyundai Stargazer X has undergone several changes, such as a more manly appearance. In addition, this car has a higher ground clearance to bulldoze difficult terrain on Indonesian roads.

“First, if we talk about cosmetics, it’s definitely changed. Bumpers, grille, engine caps, over fenders. when it comes to suspension, in my understanding there is no change. Except, the wheels went from ring 16 to ring 17. The change in the wheels made the ground clearance increase from 195mm to 200mm, “said Bonar.
