Youtuber Challenges Elon Musk on Tesla Cybertruck Drag Race Results with Math

A mathematician, Jason Fenske, believes that Tesla CEO Elon Musk is lying about the capabilities of the Tesla Cybertruck. The accusation was conveyed via Jason Fenske’s YouTube channel, Engineering Explained, regarding the Tesla Cybertruck’s ability to beat the Porsche 911 sports car.

It is known that in November 2023, Elon Musk showed a video of a drag race between a Tesla Cybertruck and a Porsche 911. At that time, the electric pickup was able to beat the German-made sports car.

What’s more special is that the Tesla Cybertruck beats the Porsche 911 while pulling a trailer carrying the same sports car. Elon Musk was so proud that he called the video a fantastic claim. “The Tesla Cybertruck is much faster at reaching a distance of 400 meters than the Porsche 911,” claims Elon Musk.

This claim then intrigued Jason Fenske. Armed with the video shown at the launch of the Tesla Cybertruck, he dismantled Elon Musk’s claims which were considered lies.

First he accused the video of not showing the conditions of the 400 meter distance at Sacramento Raceway Park. Instead the distance covered during a drag race is only 200 meters. This can be easily known through video observations and location observations via Google Maps.

“The distance of 400 meters should not show rows of chairs next to the track. The video shows the Tesla Cybertruck racing against a Porsche 911 at the finish point where there are lots of chairs. That’s only 200 meters away,” explained Jason Fenske.

He even told everyone to see the track location for themselves via Google Maps. From this location it is clearly proven that Elon Musk is obfuscating the facts.

The race between the Tesla Cybertruck and the Porsche 911 is only 200 meters, not 400 meters. Not stopping by using Google Maps, Jason Fenske then proved Elon Musk’s lie by using a mathematical formula.

The specification data for the Tesla Cybertruck and Porsche 911 were then entered into a mathematical formula. From there, Jason Fenske was finally convinced that the Tesla Cybertruck could only win at a distance of 200 meters with the Porsche 911.

However, when running up to 400 meters, the Tesla Cybertruck was actually less fast than the Porsche 911. Even the Tesla Cybertruck pulling a trailer, as Elon Musk pointed out, was still less powerful than the sports car.

“That’s why they showed a video of a 200 meter drag race, not 400 meters. Unfortunately Elon Musk claims the Tesla Cybertruck’s capabilities at a distance of 400 meters,” said Jason Fenske.

Jason Fenske’s unique claim was agreed by Tesla official Wes Morril. He admitted that the race between the Tesla Cybertruck and the Porsche 911 only covered a distance of 200 meters.

It’s just that he is sure that at a distance of 400 meters the conditions will not change. He explained that Tesla chose a distance of 200 meters for the drag race for technical reasons.

The trailer towed by the Tesla Cybertruck is equipped with normal tires and is not used for racing. They were worried that if they were forced to run a distance of 400 meters the conditions would be dangerous.

“The speed of the Tesla Cybertruck during the race reached 141 kilometers per hour. The tires on the trailer can only tolerate speeds of up to 129 kilometers per hour. The simulation we did at a distance of 400 meters also showed the same conditions,” he explained.
