National racer Rifat Sungkar will compete in the Asia Cross Country Rally 2023 (AXCR) rally in August 2023. In the rally racing event, which is often called the Dakar Rally of Asia, Rifat Sungkar represents the Mitsubishi RALLIART team.
The team has even prepared a special race car that the husband of actress Sissy Priscillia will drive for more than 2,000 kilometers. Then what kind of racing car will the man who is also Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Motors Association (IMI) use?
This car is none other than the third generation Mitsubishi Triton which was just launched in Thailand, Wednesday (26/7/2023) yesterday. It’s just that there are many differences given to the new car because it is used for racing purposes.
“Much better than the previous model,” said Rifat Sungkar on the Mitsubshi RALLIART YouTube channel.
Indeed, in terms of exterior appearance, there is nothing that distinguishes the latest third-generation Mitsubishi Triton from the Mitsubishi Triton RALLIART which is used for the AXCR 2023. The only striking difference is the very sporty livery typical of RALLIART.
Apart from that, the racing car used by Rifat Sungkar also underwent several additions to adjust to the regulations. Several additions such as a roll cage and bumper guard are installed as standard security.
Apart from that, there are also efforts to reduce weight so that the car is better at racing. Mitsubishi RALLIART does this by using carbon fiber for several points of the car such as the hood, front and rear doors and the cargo bed.
This includes the use of lightweight aluminum wheels and narrow off-road tires. However, Mitsubishi RALLIART believes that the use of aluminum wheels and narrow off-road tires can improve road control in several road conditions, both hard and muddy.
In addition to extending the car’s base footprint, the race car was also fitted with rally-specific front and rear suspension and LSD. This was done to improve the sporty and stable handling performance.
The mechanical heart of this racing car is also slightly different from the standard version of the latest third-generation Mitsubishi Triton. The 2.4 L turbo diesel engine has been retuned to reduce the loss of friction and weight. In addition, the turbo system is also given a special touch to increase output throughout the RPM range.
