United E-Motor will Build EV Motorcycle Factory in Malaysia

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi responded positively to the desire of PT Terang Dunia Internusa (TDI), the electric motorbike manufacturer United E-Motor to build a factory in Malaysia.

He said this effort needed to be appreciated because it was a step in expanding the market. According to him, local electric motorbike manufacturers should not depend on the needs of the local market.

“These are steps that we need to pay attention to and we need to encourage, because we cannot depend on the local market. “And what has been done for exports to Malaysia, I think is an achievement,” said Minister of Transportation Budi Karya in Central Jakarta, Monday (11/9/2023).

“My hope is that these products can be relied upon and are able to add value to exports so that Indonesia’s growth will be better,” he continued.

It is known that PT TDI has collaborated with
company from Malaysia, Artroniq Berhad. This step was marked by the signing of a joint cooperation agreement witnessed by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya.

PT TDI Director Henry Mulyadi believes that this collaboration is very good for the image of the Indonesian electric motorbike industry in the eyes of the world. According to him, this could be proof that electric motorbikes made in Indonesia are of high quality.

“United E-Motor’s expansion into Malaysia can have a positive impact in that the domestic electric vehicle industry has great potential,” said Henry on the sidelines of signing the collaboration with Artroniq Berhad.

For the first stage, United E-Motor together with Artroniq Berhad will sell the TX1800 and TX3000 electric motorbikes. Next year, TDI will start building a factory in Penang, Malaysia, with a production capacity of up to 10 thousand units per year for the first phase.

“Next year we will start ground breaking. The capacity reaches 10,000 units per year, for the first phase. “It is hoped that Indonesian electric motorbike products can be enjoyed by the wider community and their quality can be well recognized,” he said.

For your information, United E-Motor’s electric motorbike has a TKDN (Domestic Component Level) value of more than 50 percent. This means that the entire model line offered is included in the IDR 7 million subsidy program.
