The shape is a combination of a sports car and a tough SUV. From there came the Lamborghini Lanzador which became Lamborghini’s entry into the era of pure electric cars.
The design of the Lamborghini Lanzador is very unusual for a pure electric car. While other car manufacturers make sedans and urban cars as the main design for electric cars, Lamborghini actually prefers crossovers.
In fact, the car company based in Bologna, Italy has a special reason why it prefers crossovers to sedans which are very popular in the world of electric cars.
Quoted by Carscoops, Wednesday (27/12/2023), Frederico Foschini, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer at Lamborghini, said that initially they were considering choosing a sedan or 2+2 vehicle design for their future electric car. It’s just that the sedan car chosen must not have a traditional appearance.
In fact, according to him, Lamborghini has never made a sedan. Unfortunately, the current moment is not right for making sedans.
“The sedan market is currently going down, on the other hand, SUVs are actually going up,” he said.
From this condition, Lamborghini tried to accommodate the presence of a new design, namely a combination of sedan and SUV. So the Lamborghini Lanzador was born which has a crossover appearance.
Apart from the declining market, there is one other thing that makes Lamborghini reluctant to make their electric car in the form of a sedan. According to Frederico Foschini, the car market is very dependent on the sales area.
In China, the preferred sedan cars are cars that have very long dimensions. In fact, according to Frederico Foschini, this is very inconsistent with Lamborghini’s philosophy.
“Cars with long dimensions always need a driver. That’s not typical of Lamborghini. Lamborghini cars won’t be like that,” he explained.
It is known that a mass production version of the Lamborghini Lanzador is still far from reach. Lamborghini plans to make the electric car in 2028.
It’s just certain that once it is successfully produced, the electric car from Lamborghini will be the most powerful among other Lamborghinis. It even surpasses the current hybrid car made by Lamborghini with 1,001 horsepower, namely the Lamborghini Revuelto.
