BMW Group Indonesia claims to be the most unique premium car in Indonesia. This is based on fantastic sales achievements throughout 2023.
In an official statement, BMW Group Indonesia stated that sales of their cars under the BMW Group umbrella, namely BMW and MINI, reached 5,063 units.
From this note, BMW Group Indonesia claims to be the first premium car seller to achieve sales of more than 5,000 units a year. For details, BMW managed to sell 4,172 units and MINI sent 891 cars to consumers in Indonesia.
“Thanks to close collaboration with strategic partners, driven by the strong performance of employees and dealers, the BMW Group was able to achieve its highest sales of all time in 2023. Total sales of 5,063 units is a fantastic and historic figure for BMW Group Indonesia and the Indonesian automotive industry, ” said Ramesh Divyanathan, President Director of BMW Group Indonesia.
Ramesh Divyanathan further said that BMW Group Indonesia’s sales growth throughout 2023 was very high compared to 2022. BMW sales growth reached 38 percent and MINI increased 24 percent.
Ramesh Divyanathan even believes that the achievements in 2023 can be achieved in 2024. There are several factors that make him confident that BMW Group Indonesia can do it.
“We are confident that BMW Group Indonesia will maintain its number one position in the premium segment. Indonesia has a large domestic consumption base, and the upper middle class continues to grow significantly and will continue to grow,” he said.
The claim of the number one premium car manufacturer in Indonesia is indeed legitimate. Even without MINI’s help, BMW’s retail sales records from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO) were able to beat the sales of their toughest rival, Mercedes-Benz.
Throughout 2023, Mercedes-Benz will only succeed in selling 3,203 units to consumers. Even though in 2022 they can still beat BMW with sales of 3,184 units. This means that the year on year progress shown by Mercedes-Benz is very small compared to BMW which experienced an increase in retail sales of 38 percent.
It’s just that BMW is quite dominant in expanding the premium market in Indonesia. They not only present electric cars but also strengthen the marketing of high-performance BMW cars, BMW M.
BMW even said in its official statement that sales of BMW M cars in 2023 will be the largest in history in the country.
“With a total of 400 units of high-performance sports vehicles sold in 2023, BMW M GmbH posted its best results in Indonesia with an increase of +152% compared to the previous year,” claims BMW.
