This Crazy Chinese SUV has a Floating Mode in Floods

The Chinese-made SUV, YangWang U8, is equipped with an unusual driving mode, namely Yacht Mode. Thanks to this mode, the YangWang UU8 can float in flood conditions.

The current driving mode is familiar to every new car. The average driving modes provided are Normal, Eco, Sport and Individual.

Well, the driving mode of the YangWang U8 is actually unusual. In addition to the driving modes mentioned above, the car company founded by BYD has equipped the YangWang U8 with Yacht Mode.

Quoted by Autoevolution, Monday (25/9/2023), as the name suggests, Yacht Mode or boat mode allows the large car to float in flood conditions. Not only does it float, the car can also travel at a speed of three kilometers per hour.

“This mode can be used for 30 minutes,” said Autoevolution.

It’s just that this mode is not a driving style that can be done as often as possible. It is recommended that you choose this driving mode if the car is in a dangerous or urgent condition.

For example, suddenly the car is trapped in a fairly deep flood condition. Likewise, when the puddle you pass through turns out to be not shallow.

“After using the driving mode, the car must still be taken to a repair shop for a complete inspection,” said YangWang’s official statement, quoted by Autoevolution.

In fact, the YangWang U8 is very tough if it is forced to pass through puddles of water. Currently the YangWang U8 is available in two variants, namely Premium and Off-Road Master Edition.

The YangWang U8 Premium can pass through puddles as deep as 39 inches or about one meter. On the other hand, the YangWang U8 Off-Road Master Edition can pass through puddles as deep as 1.4 meters.

So, if you are stuck in very deep water, new car owners are allowed to activate Yacht Mode. Once active, the car will raise the car’s suspension, turn off the engine, open the windows and roof. Next, the car will move using specially stored energy.

This energy will float the car and move the wheels to move out of the water trap.

It is known that the Premium Edition version of the YangWang U8 electric car is priced at 1,089,000 yuan or the equivalent of IDR 2.2 billion. Meanwhile, the price of the Off-road Edition version has not been announced, although orders can already be made.
