These are The Best-selling Types of Cars at GIIAS 2023

Car sales at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2023 (GIIAS) turned out to be very varied. There is no single type of car that really dominates car sales at the biggest automotive exhibition in Indonesia.

The notion that the MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) type car is preferred by the people of Indonesia is actually starting to shift. This is shown from the best-selling sales in Japanese car brands.

Mitsubishi recorded the highest sales of the new Mitsubishi XForce SUV model with 1,100 units sold at GIIAS 2023. This figure beat sales of Mitsubishi’s flagship MPV, the Mitsubishi Xpander.

Honda actually took a big profit from their best-selling car, the Honda Brio. The city car sold 485 units or contributed 24 percent of total sales which reached 1,992 units.

Like Honda, Daihatsu has also benefited from the backbone of their car sales so far, the Daihatsu Sigra. The Low MPV LCGC from Daihatsu sold 311 units out of a total of 1,203 cars sold at GIIAS 2023.

Toyota’s sales are the flashiest at GIIAS 2023. At that event they can sell as many as 5,796 cars. The latest generation duo Avanza and Veloz lead sales with an SPK of 1,213 units (20.9 percent).

Suzuki has yet to release their car sales at GIIAS 2023. It’s just that their newest SUV, the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid, is the model that has caught the most attention. Suzuki’s flagship Low SUV is the newest product compared to other Suzuki models.

Hyundai also gets the blessing of their flagship Low MPV, the Hyundai Stargazer. Injected with the new Hyundai Stargazer X model, sales of the Hyundai family car reached 1,600 units. This figure is dominant because Hyundai recorded a total sales of 1,000,000

How about an electric car? Sales of electric cars at GIIAS do stand out because they are the backbone of sales for several car brands in Indonesia.

Electric cars such as the Wuling Air ev, KIA EV6 GT Line, and MG 4 EV, have experienced major improvements compared to the conventional models available at these brands. It’s just that in terms of quantity, sales of electric cars are still relatively small compared to sales

Electric cars look dominant even though in terms of numbers they are still less than sales of conventional cars.

From the composition above, it can be seen that the Indonesian people’s appetite for cars is no longer what it used to be. They are no longer focused on just one type of car.

MPV type cars are still very popular with the people of Indonesia. It’s just that they are also still very responsive to the presence of new cars with different types of MPVs.
