Suzuki and SkyDrive have finally begun to increase their collaboration in making flying cars. Flying cars production is planned to start in 2024.
Through an official statement, Suzuki admits that it has signed a basic collaboration with SkyDrive for the production of flying cars. The signing of the cooperation was carried out on Tuesday (20/6/2023) at Suzuki’s headquarters in Shizuoka, Japan.
In this collaboration, SkyDrive will later establish a new subsidiary that is tasked with producing Suzuki flying cars. The production process will later use Suzuki’s production facility in Shizuoka, Japan.
Furthermore, Suzuki will also cooperate with the SkyDrive manufacturing subsidiary in preparing for the start of manufacture and providing human resources for the benefit of production.
“I am very pleased to work with SkyDrive. We will take ambitious steps towards developing superior value products, so that we can contribute to realizing air mobility for everyday transportation,” hoped Toshihiro Suzuki, President of Suzuki Motor Corp.
It is known that the collaboration between Suzuki and SkyDrive has started since March 2022. At that time, Suzuki had invested a certain amount of capital for SkyDrive for the benefit of air transportation such as flying cars.
In the collaboration that took place in 2022, Suzuki and SkyDrive agreed to transfer technology. Suzuki will share their technology in reducing vehicle weight for SkyDrive. They are also ready to provide the electrification technology that flying cars really need.
In addition, they also promised to provide production facilities so that SkyDrive can make it. On the other hand, SkyDrive shares the technological sophistication they have developed while in the flying car business.
“In addition to providing mobility from the sea to the mountains through the maritime, motorcycle and car businesses, Suzuki will take the initiative to realize the air mobility business,” explained Suzuki’s official statement at that time.
