Surprise, Toyota GR Yaris Automatic Transmission Launching Next Year

Toyota will provide a new option for fans of their newest hot hatch, the Toyota GR Yaris with an automatic transmission option.

JAKARTA – Not everyone likes manual transmission cars. There are also those who really like automatic transmission cars.

This condition made Toyota finally change its mind about their flagship hot hatch, the Toyota GR Yaris. Initially the tailless car, which was also sold in Indonesia, was only available with a manual transmission.

It’s just that according to Drive, this Monday (25/9/2023) Toyota actually changed its mind. They will present the Toyota GR Yaris with automatic transmission next year.

“Apart from the six-speed manual transmission, there will also be an eight-speed automatic transmission which is equipped with paddle shift,” wrote Drive.

This change is actually very interesting because Toyota actually gave an injection of power to the Toyota GR Yaris with automatic transmission. The car engine will have a power of 221 kW and a maximum torque of 370 Nm.

This power is much greater than the manual transmission Toyota GR Yaris which reaches 200 kW with a maximum torque of 370 Nm.

The increase in power made Toyota also make changes to the suspension and brakes. Even the stiffness level of the car has also been made stronger.

It’s just that there is a but to the plan. The Toyota GR Yaris with automatic transmission is estimated to be much more expensive than manual transmission. The price of the Toyota GR Yaris with automatic transmission is estimated at around 3.96 million Yen or IDR 408.8 million to 4.56 million Yen or around IDR 470.8 million.

In Indonesia, the Toyota GR Yaris is known to be sold at IDR 850 million. It’s just that Indonesia gets a limited quota for these high-performance cars. As a result, currently Toyota no longer sells this car in Indonesia.

So who knows, if the Toyota GR Yaris with automatic transmission is officially launched next year, Indonesia could get another share.
