Surprise, Ferrari Sell More Hybrids than ICE

Maybe it’s the right time to say Goodbye to Ferrari with ICE. Now Ferrari car lovers are flocking to buy this Italian-made sports car with a hybrid engine.

It is known that a hybrid engine is a combination of a conventional engine and an electric motor. This combination makes some of the characteristics of conventional machines disappear. One of them is an engine with a sound that comes from the exhaust tip.

In fact, currently Ferrari fans are actually liking hybrid engines. This is indicated by the high sales of Ferrari hybrid cars compared to conventional machines this year.

As reported by the Financial Times, Monday (6/11/2023), Ferrari sales until the end of this year were 51 percent dominated by hybrid cars. Currently, Ferrari only has four hybrid cars.

The four are the Ferrari LaFerrari, Ferrari 296 GTB, Ferrari 296 GTS, and Ferrari SF90. It is known that currently there are a total of 13 cars offered by Ferrari.

It’s just that apart from the four hybrid cars, other conventional Ferrari cars don’t sell very well.

“Even though sales of hybrid cars are very high, Ferrari has not yet decided on when to sell pure electric Ferrari cars,” said the Financial Times.

Meanwhile, Ferrari CEO Benedettto Vigna said that currently they are offering two engine choices for Ferrari fans. So they can adjust whether they want to have a hybrid engine or a conventional engine.

“Some of them will not buy an electric car, there are also those who choose a hybrid, in the future there will also be those who join us because of electric cars,” he explained.

Currently, the newest Ferrari car that still uses a conventional engine is the Ferrari Purosangue. The crossover car with the prancing horse logo still retains the phenomenal V12 engine made by Ferrari.

It’s just that it can be predicted that in the near future Ferrari will also provide other engine options for the Ferrari Purosangue. Carscoops estimates that the new engine that will be supported by the Ferrari Purosangue will be a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) engine.

“It looks like the conventional engine made by Ferrari will be finished just a matter of time,” said Carscoops.
