Surprise, 3.516 Chinese Cars Ordered at GIIAS 2023

Indonesian people’s trust in Chinese cars has increased over the years. The current condition is different from the previous few years where there were still doubts in the minds of the Indonesian people towards Chinese cars.

At least that trust is seen through sales that continue to increase. The Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2023 (GIIAS) was no exception, which was held on 10-20 August 2023.

The existence of Chinese brand cars at GIIAS 2023 is no joke. Those present included Wuling Motors, DFSK, SERES, Chery, NETA Auto, and GWM which carried three brands at once namely Haval, Tank and Ora.

Then how did they perform at GIIAS 2023 then? For Chinese car brands, Wuling Motors is the largest because it received 1,771 vehicle order letters (SPK). What’s more, 50 percent of the total SPK is dominated by electric cars, Wuling Air ev.

DFSK is no less flashy. The combination of DFSK and SERES recorded 1,007 SPK. In detail, 688 SERES E1 electric cars and 319 DFSk units. Sales of the SERES E1 are very interesting because only in August 2023 the electric car will be officially sold.

Furthermore, good sales were also obtained by Chery. In total, Chery Sales Indonesia received 576 SPK while participating in GIIAS 2023.

One of the booking boosters is their affordable medium SUV, the Chery Omoda 5.

“A total of 576 SPK is proof of the Indonesian automotive market’s increasingly strong trust in Chery products,” said Shawn Xu, President of PT Chery Sales Indonesia and also Vice President of Chery International in an official statement, Thursday (24/8/2023) yesterday.

NETA Auto Indonesia also feels the increasing trust of the Indonesian people towards Chinese cars. Their first appearance at GIIAS 2023 resulted in satisfying vehicle orders, namely 162 units for the NETA V electric car.

“The curiosity expressed through the positive response of the Indonesian people to the product line that we brought to Indonesia certainly made a good impression on us. With NETA’s seriousness and commitment to making electric vehicles with smart technology but still value for money that can be owned by all levels of society, We hope that NETA will be increasingly accepted in various countries, including Indonesia,” explained Jason Ding, Managing Director of PT NETA Auto Indonesia.

So a total of 3.516 Chinese cars have been ordered at the GIIAS 2023 event. This is quite a large number considering that in the past many Indonesians had a little antipathy towards Chinese cars.

Next year the figure could increase considering that other Chinese brands such as Haval, Tank and Ora have already started sales.
