Sorry, Xiaomi’s Electric Cars Are Not Yet Available in Indonesia

Fans of the Xiaomi SU7 electric car outside of China should be prepared for disappointment. According to Carnewschina, Wednesday (31/7/2024), Xiaomi has no plans to sell their electric car outside of China, including Indonesia.

Speculation about Xiaomi selling the Xiaomi SU7 electric car outside of China began when the Chinese tech company brought the electric car to Paris, France. The Xiaomi SU7 was showcased in the French capital to enliven the Paris 2024 Olympics.

“Many people started thinking that Xiaomi would soon target the export market. They seemed to want to sell the Xiaomi SU7 outside of China,” wrote Carnewschina.

However, this speculation was immediately denied by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun. He stated that for now, Xiaomi is not preparing the Xiaomi SU7 for the export market.

Even the European market, which is their main target, will only be explored in 2030. This means that the potential for the Xiaomi SU7 to be available outside of China is very small.

“We are aiming for a top five position in the world, so we will go global when the time is right,” said Lei Jun.

It cannot be denied that the Xiaomi SU7 electric car is currently a sensation. In just 43 days since its launch on March 28, 2024, Xiaomi has already sold 7,000 units of the Xiaomi SU7. Total orders have even reached 100,000 units by the end of the year.

This situation has prompted Xiaomi to immediately increase the working hours of their electric car factory in Yizhuang, Beijing, China. The working hours have been increased from 8 hours to 16 hours to meet the incoming orders.
