The fourth generation Toyota Vios recently achieved impressive results in a crash test conducted by the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (ASEAN NCAP). In the crash test, the Toyota Vios achieved the highest score, namely five stars.
Quoted by Paultan, Tuesday (12/9/2023), the Toyota Vios being tested is produced and sold in Malaysia. However, the assessment results still apply to other Toyota Vios made in Thailand which are marketed in Brunei, Indonesia, Laos and Cambodia.
In the crash test, it was discovered that the Toyota Vios managed to get a score of 35.25 in terms of Adult Occupant Protection (AOP). On the Child Occupant Protection (COP) side, the Toyota Vios received a score of 16.64 out of a total of 20 points available in this category.
Furthermore, the availability of autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and other advanced safety assistance systems makes the 2023 Toyota Vios get 16.08 points out of a possible 20 points. Another feature, namely Motorcyclist Safety (MS) for motorcyclist protection, also scored 10.73 points for motorcyclists.
The point weight adjustment brings the total score of the 2023 Toyota Vios to 78.70 points, making it worthy of a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating.
“ASEAN NCAP is pleased that Toyota is committed to ensuring the safety of vehicle occupants and other road users by equipping the sedan with various safety assistance technologies to protect them from unexpected incidents while driving on the road,” said the ASEAN NCAP statement.
It is known that currently in Indonesia the Toyota Vios is sold in two variants, namely G TSS CVT Type and G CVT Type. The highest variant G TSS CVT Type equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) is sold at IDR 376.4 million. Another variant, the G CVT Type, is sold at IDR 363.2 million.
