Russian hackers have deliberately tarnished the image of Olej Zelenska, the wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, by spreading false information that she purchased a new Bugatti Tourbillon hypersport car.
According to Autoevolution on Wednesday (3/7/2024), a purchase order for a Bugatti Tourbillon in the name of Olena Zelenska has recently circulated online. The hypercar’s purchase order was widely disseminated.
Several content creators close to the Russian government amplified the order through their social media platforms.
“This all started with a fake sales invoice from Bugatti Paris to Olena Zelenska, the wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky,” reported Autoevolution.
Instead of receiving a response from Olena Zelenska, Bugatti quickly reacted by issuing an official statement regarding the false news.
In their official statement shared on social media, Bugatti stated that they had never released a sales invoice. All transactions conducted by Bugatti are kept highly confidential to ensure their clients’ privacy.
“Moreover, there is a price error listed in the invoice,” clarified Bugatti.
Bugatti’s distributor in France, Car Lover Group, mentioned that they would pursue legal action regarding the fraudulent sales invoice.
The Bugatti Tourbillon is currently the latest product from Bugatti, highly sought after by many of the world’s ultra-wealthy individuals. Only 250 units of the Bugatti Tourbillon will be distributed worldwide.
Equipped with Bugatti’s first plug-in hybrid engine, the Tourbillon features an astonishing 8.3-liter NA V16 engine. This engine not only produces 1,000 PS with 900 Nm of torque but is also supported by three electric motors. An electric motor between the engine and transmission provides an additional 340 PS/240 Nm, while other motors drive the front wheels with similar power. The combined total of the engine and electric motors can reach an extraordinary peak power of 1,800 PS.
