The five-door Suzuki Jimny SUV appeared at the South African auto show, Festival of Motoring 2023, which was held in Johannesburg, August 25-27 last week. The appearance of the five-door Suzuki Jimny in South Africa is the second appearance after previously appearing at the Auto Expo in January 2023.
The presence of the five-door Suzuki Jimny in South Africa also surprised many fans in Indonesia. The reason is that many people suspected that before coming to South Africa, the compact SUV from Suzuki arrived in Indonesia at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2023 (GIIAS) which was held on 10-20 August 2023.
Unfortunately, at that time, PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) did not bring the five-door Suzuki Jimny to Indonesia. The presence of the five-door Suzuki Jimny in South Africa is no less special than its first appearance in India.
Suzuki even provides a special color for the five-door Suzuki Jimny which is sold in South Africa. The special color is military green, or Military Green, which manages to give a different aura to the five-door Suzuki Jimny.
“Suzuki Jimny in South Africa was previously marketed in three variants for the three-door version. It’s just that for the five-door version there will only be two variants available,” said sitsu Carwale, Monday (28/8/2023).
In terms of features, there is no big difference between the Indian and South African editions of the five-door Suzuki Jimny. The five-door Suzuki Jimny is still equipped with a nine-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control and cruise speed control.
For safety and technology features, the five-door Suzuki Jimny is equipped with an airbag, keyless start/stop button, rear parking camera, headlight washer, rear wiper with washer, hill hold assist, ESP and ISOFIX.
The car’s mechanical heart also retains the 1.5-liter K15B petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual and a four-speed torque converter unit. This motor is capable of producing 103bhp of power and 134Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, the brand’s AllGrip Pro 4×4 system will be offered as standard across the product range.
Previously, PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) had given a signal about the possibility of a five-door Suzuki Jimny in Indonesia. Because the Suzuki Jimny is a very legendary car and is well received by the Indonesian market.
Unfortunately, Suzuki did not explicitly mention the name Suzuki Jimny which will be presented in Indonesia.
“So in the future we will introduce one of these products and be able to refresh our SUV products. Then in the near future there will be a refresher for the SUVs that we produce domestically and the plan is to refresh or extend the model for the legendary SUV line-up. us,” explained 4W Marketing Director Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) Donny Saputra some time ago.
The code given by Donny Ismi Saputra regarding the extension of Suzuki’s legendary SUV line-up could lead to a five-door Jimny which is a form of development of the three-door Suzuki Jimny.
It’s a shame that the five-door Suzuki Jimny hasn’t arrived yet. The car even appeared in South Africa.
