The new look of the Chery Omoda 5 has officially been revealed, showcasing a design that closely resembles the Chery Omoda E5 electric vehicle currently available in Indonesia.
According to a report by Paultan on Sunday (September 22, 2024), the updated design of the Chery Omoda 5 was introduced after Chery Russia released images of the flagship SUV.
“The images shared show a revised front appearance, creating a more familiar impression with the electric Omoda E5,” wrote Paultan.
As part of the refresh, the Omoda 5 now features sleeker arrow-shaped LED daytime running lights, connected by a black bar with the Omoda logo. Below, the bumper has been significantly redesigned to form an X shape, along with a revised grille that replaces the previous chrome design with body color.
The Chery Omoda 5 continues to retain its design character similar to the Nissan Ariya, with sharp lines, a curved window shape, a flowing roofline, and striking rear lights. There are some color and trim changes, including the rear edge of the D-pillar now painted in body color, which some may find unusual. A new wheel design has also been showcased.
Despite its eye-catching design, no mechanical changes or specifications have been announced. The Omoda 5 is likely to continue using a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 147 PS and 230 Nm of torque, paired with a CVT. Additionally, the GT model is available outside Malaysia, featuring a 1.6-liter engine from the Tiggo 7 Pro that delivers 197 PS and 290 Nm of torque through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
With this new design, the Chery Omoda 5 is expected to attract more consumers in the Indonesian market, which has already shown high enthusiasm for Chery products.
