Neta’s First EV Dealership Shuts Down After Just Five Months

Neta’s first electric vehicle dealership in Indonesia, located in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, has officially ceased operations—just five months after its grand opening in November 2023. The closure was first spotted on Google Maps, marked as “Permanently Closed,” and has since been confirmed by Neta.

The news comes as a surprise, especially considering the Kelapa Gading location had served as the brand’s main hub in Indonesia. From test drives and product launches to promotional events, most of Neta’s local activities were centered there. It’s no wonder the sudden shutdown has raised eyebrows—what exactly is going on with Neta?

Addressing the situation, Frietz Frederick, Brand PR & Digital Senior Manager at PT Neta Auto Indonesia, explained that the closure is part of the company’s broader business strategy. He assured customers that there’s no need to worry—their rights and services will continue as usual.

“We remain fully committed to delivering top-notch products and services to the Indonesian market, and we’ll keep strengthening our nationwide network,” Frietz said.

The Kelapa Gading dealership had occupied a 1,628-square-meter space and was fully equipped with 3S facilities (Sales, Service, Spare Parts). However, both the physical location and its services are no longer operational.

Despite the closure, Frietz emphasized that all promised benefits—including vehicle warranties, Emergency Road Assistance (ERA), and home service—are still valid and accessible through other Neta dealerships.

“All our services are still available at any official Neta dealership,” he added.

In Jakarta, customers can still visit Neta outlets in areas such as Puri, Tebet (Arista), and Pluit. Nationally, Neta currently operates 15 official dealerships across cities like Serpong, Bekasi, Bandung, Makassar, and Pekanbaru.

This latest closure adds to growing questions about Neta’s expansion strategy. Just a few months earlier, Neta also shut down its dealership in Singapore after only three months of operation. With the Jakarta (Kelapa Gading) location now closed as well, the future of Neta’s presence in Southeast Asia is under increasing scrutiny.
