NASA purchased three new cars made by Canoo Technologies for the needs of NASA astronauts who are going to the moon next year. The car has arrived at NASA’s third facility at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, United States.
The third car is the Canoo Van which has been specially modified for the needs of NASA astronauts on the Artemis II mission. Some of the modifications made include changes to the car’s interior.
This was done because the astronauts who use the car are required to wear special space suits. Automatically need more spacious car space.
In addition to changing the interior, the outer appearance of the Canoo Van is also dressed in accordance with NASA’s characteristics and history. For example, the white color and a very unique wheel design.
“The collaboration between Canoo and NASA focuses on the safety and comfort of the crew in all their activities before the journey to the Moon begins,” said Charlie Blackwell-Thompson, NASA’s Artemis Mission Director.
“I am sure that everyone who sees this new vehicle will feel the same pride that we feel,” he wrote.
Almost all of NASA will raise four astronauts for the Artemis II mission to the Moon. They are Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Hammoch Koch, and Jeremy Hansen.
The four of them will go to the Moon in November 2024. It’s just that for that mission they only circled the Moon for 10 days to conduct research and return to Earth.
NASA is actually targeting the Artemis III mission as the main mission where their astronauts will set foot on the Moon. It is planned that the Artemis III mission will begin in 2025.
