It turns out that many of the electric cars currently being marketed in Indonesia are also produced and assembled in Indonesia. These green four-wheeled vehicles are assembled and produced by the best hands of the nation’s children.
Several car manufacturers deliberately produce and assemble electric cars in Indonesia. This is because the government provides a fairly large incentive policy for manufacturers who want to produce or assemble electric cars domestically.
This incentive policy makes the price of electric cars more affordable than bringing them fully into the country through an import scheme.
“We will encourage the industry not to import cars, but to bring the factories here so that there is added value for labor and so on,” said Director General of the Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics Industry (ILMATE) of the Ministry of Industry, Taufiek Bawazier.
So which electric cars are produced and assembled in Indonesia? Check out the list below:
1. Mitsubishi L100 EV
The Mitsubishi L100 EV electric car has a very unique shape. The light commercial electric car is actually produced at GIIC, Deltamas, Cikarang, Bekasi Regency.
2. Wuling Air ev
Wuling Air ev is the first electric car brought by Wuling Motors to Indonesia. The tiny electric car is produced at the Wuling factory in GIIC, Deltamas, Cikarang, Bekasi Regency.
Currently the Wuling Air ev is sold at a price of IDR 190 million to IDR 275 million.
3. Chery Omoda E5
Chery assembles their flagship electric car Chery Omoda E5 at the factory owned by PT Handal Motor Indonesia which is located in Pondok Ungu, Bekasi, West Java.
Chery Omoda E5 is sold at IDR 498.8 million.
4. MG ZS EV and MG 4 EV
MG Motor Indonesia utilizes the factory owned by Wuling in GIIC, Deltamas, Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, to assemble the MG ZS EV and MG 4 EV electric cars.
Currently the MG ZS EV is sold at IDR 453 million while the MG 4 EV is sold at IDR 433 million.

5. Hyundai Ioniq 5
Like the Wuling Air ev, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a very popular electric car in Indonesia. Who would have thought that electric cars were already being produced at the Hyundai factory in GIIC, Deltas, Cikarang, Bekasi Regency.
Prices for the Hyundai Ioniq 5 start at IDR 782 million to IDR 895 million.
