Legendary Mitsubishi Icon Ready to be Revived, Here’s What It Might Look Like

Mitsubishi is planning the revival of the Mitsubishi Pajero, and various future concept images are circulating widely online.

One image that has caught attention is an artist’s rendering released by Carscoops on Sunday (7/7/2024). This image was not made haphazardly.

Carscoops claims that the rendering is based on official information from Mitsubishi. For instance, the main design of the Mitsubishi Pajero is developed from the globally renowned Mitsubishi Outlander SUV.

“Our design study is instantly recognizable with a face inspired by the Outlander and a floating roof aesthetic,” explained Carscoops.

The difference between the future Mitsubishi Pajero and the Mitsubishi Outlander lies in their proportions. True to its legendary name, the Mitsubishi Pajero is designed to be larger.

Unsurprisingly,  the Mitsubishi Pajero depicted by Carscoops appears to stand taller with increased ground clearance and a higher hood line that sharply slopes down.

The side profile of this vehicle is also designed to be more modern. Unlike the old Mitsubishi Pajero with a strong urban vibe, Carscoops has given this vehicle a more dynamic and sculpted side profile. This design offers a modern and stylish impression.

The rear of the vehicle is equipped with a full-width T-shaped taillight cluster and a split tailgate with a separate glass section for easier access.

As for technical specifications, Carscoops has yet to provide detailed information. However, Mitsubishi has previously indicated that they will use the updated CMF-C/D platform and an enhanced version of the 2.4-liter plug-in hybrid powertrain from the Mitsubishi Outlander.

This engine is expected to deliver significantly increased power. The configuration includes two electric motors on the rear axle and one at the front, working in tandem with the gasoline engine. Altogether, it is expected to produce over 382 horsepower.

Mitsubishi is anticipated to introduce the new Mitsubishi Pajero in 2027. The legendary SUV will be positioned as a premium model.

The three-diamond-logo vehicle will compete with the Lexus GX, Land Rover Defender, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Range Rover Sport, Audi Q7, BMW X7, and Infiniti QX80.
