Mitsubishi will launch their new SUV in the South Jakarta area, Monday (31/7/2023) this afternoon. The car will later be placed between the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Mitsubishi Xpander Cross.
In addition, Mitsubishi’s new SUV will enter a segment that has long been abandoned by the three-star automotive company, because of the discontinued Mitsubishi Outlander Sport in Indonesia.
Mitsubishi’s new SUV will compete with other models that were already present, namely the Honda HR-V, Hyundai CRETA, KIA Seltos, Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Yaris Cross. The market is already very crowded and the market not too big because there are too many choices.
No wonder the price factor and feature advantages are very decisive. Even though the Mitsubishi price hasn’t been announced recently, Mitsubishi has given us an idea of the price tag for their new SUV.
“The competitors are indeed the Honda HR-V and Hyundai Creta. The price range is like that,” said Tetsuhiro Tuschida, Director of Marketing and Sales Division of PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia, at the Mitsubishi 2023 Media Gathering some time ago.
Currently the Honda HR-V has four variants with the lowest price of IDR 375.9 million and IDR 529.9 million for the highest variant. Elsewhere, the Hyundai Creta has four variants with the cheapest price of IDR 291.3 million and IDR 408.3 million for the most expensive variant.
Another option, the Toyota Yaris Cross, also has a more or less the same price range. The compact SUV with the oval logo has three variants. Toyota Yaris Cross G Type as the cheapest variant is sold at IDR 351 million. The most expensive variant of the Toyota Yaris Cross S HV Type GR Parts Aero Package is sold at IDR 440.6 million.
This means that the current price range for compact SUVs is in the range of IDR 300 million to IDR 500 million. It could be that the price of Mitsubishi’s new SUV will be in that price range.
Of course, the difference is the design, technology, and features that are owned to steal the attention of consumers.
“Hopefully the price is not as expensive as competitors,” Tetsuhiro Tsuchida said at that time.
