Jaecoo J7 Ready to Launch in Malaysia Next Year, Indonesia will Follow?

The new SUV made in China, the Jaecoo J7, is certain to launch in Malaysia next year. This certainty came through Jaecoo Malaysia’s official statement quoted by Paultan, Tuesday (19/12/2023). In the official statement, Jaecoo Malaysia stated that they would start selling in Malaysia next year.

Apart from that, they also apply a different strategy to Chery, as the parent company.
Chery and Jaecoo will later become separate entities.

Jaecoo even has a different brand slogan from Chery, namely “From Classic, Beyond Classic”. According to them, this will be seen from the cars they will bring to their neighboring country. One of them is the Jaecoo J7.

“Jaecoo immediately released several interesting details about the Jaecoo J7, such as the All Road Driver Intelligent System (ARDIS) feature, high-strength steel construction, energy-absorbing body structure, and advanced Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technology,” said Paultan.

Interestingly, each variant of the Jaecoo J7 will be equipped with a Qualcomm 8155 processor. This processor will enable Jaecoo J7 owners to enjoy the various features on the 14.8 inch touch screen and 10.25 inch instrument cluster.

Furthermore, Jaecoo also announced that at the beginning of December they had brought two Jaecoo J7 units with right-hand drive configuration. The two cars were presented for road tests and also safety tests required to be sold in Malaysia.

It is estimated that there are two variants of the Jaecoo J7 present in Malaysia. The first is the standard version of the 1.6 liter four-cylinder engine and the second is the highest version, namely the 1.6 liter turbo four-cylinder petrol engine with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

“Further details about the J7 are expected to be released closer to the SUV’s launch,” wrote Jaecoo Malaysia’s official statement.

In Indonesia, Jaecoo J7 sightings have actually been seen several times on the streets. The car was seen carrying out a road test on the Trans Java toll road.

It’s just that PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) still hasn’t talked much about Jaecoo. Harry Kamora, Vice President of PT CSI, revealed that the presence of the Jaecoo J7 is actually closer to the Tiggo 4 Pro which was introduced earlier.

“If you ask Jaecoo, yes, there is a desire, it doesn’t feel like it’s long term. “We will decide in the next 1-2 years,” said Harry Kamora.
