Investing IDR 18.5 trillion, VinFast Wants to Build a Factory Equivalent to Vietnam in Indonesia

A car manufacturer from Vietnam, VinFast has big plans in Indonesia. No kidding, they immediately poured in an investment of USD 1.5 billion or the equivalent of IDR 18.5 trillion.

Their work in Indonesia began by taking part in the Indonesia International Motor Show 2024 (IIMS) which will be held on February 15 2024. At the automotive exhibition, VinFast plans to bring two electric cars which will soon be marketed in Indonesia, namely the VinFast VF5 and VinFast VF e34.

After that, VinFast actually had a very interesting plan in Indonesia, namely building a factory with a capacity equivalent to their factory in Haiphong, Vietnam.

Like the factory in Haiphong, the VinFast factory in Indonesia will be able to produce 30,000 to 50,000 cars per year.

“The Haiphong complex is the basis for VinFast’s expansion into the Indonesian electric vehicle market, which has sparked hope and optimism for a greener future for the automotive industry,” wrote VinFast’s official statement.

Unfortunately VinFast does not provide comprehensive details about the factory. Until now it is not known where VinFast built this large factory.

What is certain is that VinFast’s steps need to be appreciated considering that currently many new players entering Indonesia are playing it safe by assembling rather than building factories.

Moreover, the factory that VinFast has prepared for Indonesia is believed to be equivalent to the one in Haiphong, Vietnam.
