Indonesia Ranks 8th, Country with the Cheapest SPKLU Fees in the World

Electric car owners in Indonesia don’t need to worry when recharging their electric car batteries at Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU). The reason is that the fees charged are not too expensive when compared to other countries.

Based on research conducted by Compare the Market, it turns out that Indonesia is ranked eighth in the country with the cheapest costs for recharging electric vehicle batteries in the world.

In detail, the first position is held by Argentina. In second place is Malaysia. Respectively, the third to fifth positions are filled by India, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam and China. Next in sixth to tenth positions are China, Turkey, Indonesia, Mexico and South Korea.

This is based on research on current data on the cost of recharging electric vehicle batteries in 50 countries around the world. The data is then continued by comparing the costs incurred in filling a conventional car’s gas tank completely. The greater the difference, the better the country’s position as the country with the cheapest electric vehicle battery recharging costs in the world.

From this data, the group of countries with the most expensive costs for recharging electric vehicle batteries in the world and the group of countries with the cheapest costs for recharging batteries in the world are known.

“The car we used to compare prices is the latest model of the Hyundai Kona, as it comes in both a traditional petrol version and a pure electric version,” wrote analyst Jacob Stiles of Compare the Market.

He said this research was carried out because cost savings are one of the reasons why people are interested in buying electric cars. The energy costs for electric cars are believed to be much cheaper than the fuel costs for conventional cars.

“From there we want to know which countries are the cheapest places to charge electric vehicles, and where you can save on electricity costs by using electricity instead of petrol,” he explained.

In their research, Indonesia charges AUD 5.77 or the equivalent of IDR 56,000 to fully charge the battery of a Hyundai Kona Electric electric car. This cost is much cheaper than filling a conventional Hyundai Kona gas tank which can reach AUD77.46 or around IDR 760,000.

Cheaper costs in the research did exist in Argentina. This country in the Latin American region only costs AUD 2.12 or around IDR 21,000 to fully charge the battery of a Hyundai Kona Electric electric car.

This cost is much cheaper than filling a conventional Hyundai Kona car’s gas tank, which reaches AUD75.58 or around IDR 743,000.

The difference in the cost of electric cars and petrol cars is what makes Argentina better than Malaysia which is in second place. This is because in Malaysia the cost of recharging an electric vehicle battery reaches UD2.95 or almost Rp. 30,000. Likewise, the cost of filling a conventional car’s gas tank reaches AUD33.81 or around IDR 332,000. The results of this comparison mean that Malaysia has to settle for second place.

“Malaysia is unique because it turns out that the cost of filling up car petrol in that country is actually the cheapest in the world,” explained Jacob Stiles.
