IMOS+ 2023 Officially Opens, Ready to Boost National Motorcycle Sales

The Indonesia Motorcycle Show (IMOS+) 2023 exhibition was officially opened by the Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita. In his speech, he hoped that sales of two-wheeled vehicles would grow with the biggest two-wheeled event in Indonesia.

For your information, IMOS+ 2023 will be held on 25-29 October, at the new location of ICE BSD City, Tangerang. This is also the first time IMOS has been held every year, where previously it only took place in even-numbered years.

“The final target for 2023 is that domestic sales will reach 6.1 million and I also encourage exports to increase so that we are on par with last year’s figure of 743 thousand units,” said Minister of Industry Agus in his speech at ICE BSD, Tangerang, Wednesday (25/10/2023 ).

The Minister of Industry also hopes that through this exhibition sales of electric vehicles will increase. Moreover, the government has provided support in the form of a subsidy of IDR 7 million for the purchase of a new electric motorbike.

“Based on the KBLBB R2 registration until September 2023, based on registration data for electric motorbikes, there are 67 thousand units in the community. Of course, as an effort to speed up the government’s release of various regulatory programs, one of which is providing assistance or discounts of IDR 7 million per unit for electric two-wheeled vehicles,” he said .

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang admitted that the main challenge for electric motorbikes is convincing people to switch. For this reason, through IMOS+ 2023, it is hoped that it will convince the public because more and more electric motorbike manufacturers are joining the fray.

“Challenge to business players in the R2 electricity production industry, how can we standardize the batteries themselves. I think we will also make the public as potential consumers more comfortable with standardization,” he said.

It is known that IMOS+ 2023 will be attended by 50 participants, including five of which are ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) motorbike brands, namely Honda, Royal Enfield, Suzuki, Scomadi and Yamaha. Then there are 11 electric motorbike brands consisting of ALVA, Charged EV, Dhelvic, Greentech, Gova EV, Ion Mobility, Kool EV, Lisgo, Polytron, Savart EV, and Selis.

Apart from that, there are brands from the automotive supporting industry that will enliven the exhibition, such as tires, spare parts, engine lubricants, helmets, apparel and various other supporting driving equipment.
