Honda Prepares Two More Electric Motorcycles for Indonesia

PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) plans to present two more electric motorbikes next year. The presence of the two new electric motorbikes will complement the two electric motorbike models that were just launched by AHM last week.

Thomas Wijaya, Vice President of PT AHM said that the presence of the two new electric motorbikes next year is a realization of their commitment. Previously, AHM announced that it would launch seven electric motorbike models in stages in Indonesia until 2030. Each model launched will be tailored to the needs of two-wheeled vehicle users in the country.

“This year there are two models, EM1 and EM1 plus. “As previously announced, two models this year, hopefully two (new) models next year,” said Thomas Wijaya.

Unfortunately, Thomas Wijaya could not inform what models would later enter the Indonesian automotive market.

“Currently there are 7 models that we announced last year (launching electric motorbikes until 2030). While looking at the demand and what the market is like here. “It is possible that the planned 7 models could develop into many more,” said Thomas.

AHM itself has actually been very active in promoting electric motorbikes to the public even though in the end it only released two electric motorbikes. For information, at IMOS 2022, AHM is bringing Honda PCX Electric, Benly e: and Gyro e:.

However, the three electric motorbike models were not sold in Indonesia, but were loaned to several companies as AHM evaluation material.

As is known, Honda’s first two electric motorbike models in Indonesia, namely the EM1 e: and EM1 e: Plus, have the same performance as conventional 50 cc motorbikes. Honda EM1 e: and Honda EM1 e: Plus can only travel at a maximum speed of 45 km/hour and have a range of 41.1 km.

Regarding the new electric motorbike that will be launched, Marketing Director of PT AHM Octavianus Dwi Putro said that this model will be adapted to the needs of the Indonesian people.

“Yes, just wait, please just give your input. “We will do what we have to perfect later,” he said.
