Honda Hasn’t Given Up Making Sports Cars, Brings Prelude Concept to JMS 2023

Honda still hasn’t given up on making sports cars. This time they brought the Honda Prelude Concept sports car to the Japan Mobility Show 2023 (JMS). But the sports car is still powered by electricity.

“Honda is always committed to making sporty vehicles,” said Toshihiro Mibe, President and CEO of Honda, quoted by Paultan, Wednesday (25/10/2023).

The presence of the Honda Prelude Concept at JMS 2023 is believed to be a cure for homesickness for fans of sports cars made by Honda. Honda Prelude is known as the name of Honda’s sports car which was first released in 1978.

The arrival of the Honda Prelude Concept has indeed been a very long wait. This is because Honda has brought back the names of their legendary sports cars such as the Honda NSX and Honda Integra.

Now, only at JMS 2023, Honda will reuse the name Honda Prelude.

Unfortunately, Honda still doesn’t talk much about the Honda Prelude Concept. The electric sports car is like a design study that will be used by Honda to develop Honda’s electric sports cars in the future.

“This model will be a precursor to our future models, which will inherit the joy of driving into a fully electric future and embody Honda’s irreversible sporting mindset,” explained Toshihiro Mibe.

Autoblog states that the Honda Prelude has long appeared with a strong coupe design, long nose and short trunk. Now the Honda Prelude Concept has a sharp hood, flowing body curves and wide fenders. This design makes the Honda Prelude Concept look much sportier.

“What’s interesting is that the appearance is ready for production, even the flat door handles are like existing electric cars,” wrote Autoblog.
