PT Astra Honda Motor gave a sweet surprise towards the end of the year. They officially launched the Honda EM1 e: electric motorbike, this Thursday (21/12/2023). This electric motorbike actually came with many surprises because it received discordant criticism when it first appeared at GIIAS 2023 in August 2023.
At that time, the Honda EM1 e: was said to be too expensive because it was sold for IDR 45 million. Apart from that, the Honda EM1 e: is also considered less cool than the electric motorbikes already on the Indonesian market.
Now AHM is giving a surprise by presenting the Honda EM1 e: which is much more affordable. Honda EM1 e: known to come in two variants. The Honda EM1 e: is priced at IDR 33 million, while the Honda EM1 e: Plus is offered at IDR 33.5 million. Both prices have on the road (OTR) status in Jakarta and include a subsidy of IDR 7 million.
“In response to requests from the Indonesian government, Honda supports this initiative and will work together with Astra Honda Motor to achieve carbon neutrality in the motorcycle business in Indonesia,” said Yasuaki Nagai, General Manager of Electrification Business Planning Division Motorcycle and Power Products Electrification Business Development Unit, at the Astra Honda Training Center, Cikarang, West Java, Thursday (21/12/2023).
“We see that this market development will continue, but we also see strong signals of growth in the electric motorbike market, and to capture this demand, we are launching an electric motorbike model in Indonesia today,” he continued.
For information, AHM launched the Honda EM1 e: electric motorbike at the GIIAS 2023 event, last August. This motorbike also meets the TKDN (Domestic Component Level) requirements of at least 40 percent to be included in the IDR 7 million subsidy program.
Regarding specifications, the EM1 e: is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 50.26 V 26.1 Ah which can cover a distance of 41.1 kilometers. Honda equips the EM1 e: battery with fast charging technology Honda Power Pack Charger e:. To fill 25-75 percent it only takes 2.7 hours (160 minutes), and 0-100 percent takes 6 hours.
For performance, the driving motor can produce 1.7 kW of power with a maximum speed of 45 km/hour. This electric motorbike has a drive motor equivalent to a conventional motorbike with an engine capacity of 50 cc.
In terms of specifications, the Honda EM1 e: Plus is also equipped with similar specifications, only there are several added features. Like the rear rack for carrying items weighing a maximum of 6 kilograms.

In Indonesia, the Honda EM1 e: electric motorbike is sold in three color choices, namely Innovative White, Smart Red and Intelligent Matte Black. Meanwhile, the Honda EM1 e: Plus has an Excellent Matte Silver color. With a compact design, this scooter has dimensions of 1,795 mm in length, 680 mm in width and 100 mm in height.
Meanwhile, the wheelbase is 1,300 mm, with a seat height of 740 mm and ground clearance of 135 mm. Honda EM1 e: also has a weight that can be said to be light, because overall it is complete with a battery of only 93 kilograms.
On the legs, Honda has equipped this compact electric scooter with telescopic front suspension and Twin Rear Suspension at the rear. Meanwhile, the wheels use 12 inch rings with 90/90 tires at the front, and 10 inch wheels with 100/90 tires at the rear.
Braking uses discs at the front and drums at the rear, with the Combi Brake System feature. This is Honda’s superior feature which can make braking more optimal.
