Happy Birthday 78 Indonesian Army, These Are Combat and Tactical Vehicle Made in Indonesia

TNI celebrates its 78th birthday, this Thursday (10/5/2023). So far, the TNI has been very successful in being the foremost guardian of the sovereignty of Mother Earth.

It could be said that the TNI actually received a lot of modernization so that it was able to improve the quality of its defense. Both from the modernization of human resources, combat equipment and special vehicles.

Who would have thought that the special vehicles owned by the TNI, such as tactical vehicles (rantis) and combat vehicles (ranpur) had actually been made domestically. Here are some of them that are interesting to look.

1. Maung Pindad

i, Maung 4×4 is a vehicle created to support operations and mobilization for close combat and all-terrain exploration. This vehicle has agile maneuverability, even though it has quite large dimensions.

According to the PT Pindad website, Maung is a project whose platform was created domestically. However, the engine used entirely belongs to the Toyota Hilux 4×4 which is well known for its reliability.

However, there are several components that must be obtained from abroad. This makes Maung’s Domestic Component Level (TKDN) value only around 65 percent currently, and will try to increase it in the future.

As for dimensions, the Maung made by Pindad has a length of 4,931 mm, width 1,640 mm, height 1,820 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,090 mm. This vehicle is also equipped with 17 inch alloy wheels equipped with Mud Terrain (MT) tires which can overcome difficult terrain.

Maung can carry 4 personnel and has 5 accessible doors, namely 4 side doors and 1 rear door. Maung is available with a choice of roofs using Hard Top, Soft Top and open roof.

Maung uses a Hilux 4×4 diesel engine type 2 GD FTV, 4 cylinder in-line capacity of 2,494 cc, 16 valve DOHC with VNT Intercooler. The power produced reaches 149 hp at 3,400 rpm and peak torque of 400 Nm kgm at 1,600-2,000 rpm.

Based on Pindad’s explanation in its official statement, Maung, who uses a Toyota Hilux engine, can travel at a top speed of 100 km/hour. Its heavier weight means it cannot be driven at higher speeds.

2. P6 ATAV

Quoted by the Indonesia Defense website, the P6 ATAV is a very special tactical or military vehicle. This vehicle is produced domestically by PT Sentra Surya Ekajaya (SSE Defense).

Reporting from the PT Sentra Surya Ekajaya page, the P6 ATAV is equipped with a 2,500 cc four-cylinder turbo diesel engine. The Rantis P6 ATAV is claimed to be able to reach a maximum torque of 144 PS (142 horsepower) at 3,400 Rpm with a rear engine configuration.

The P6 ATAV tires have the ability to run flat tires, which allows a flat car tire to still be run safely at a certain speed and distance traveled. In terms of suspension, the P6 ATAV uses independent suspension.

Apart from that, there are also weapon mounts on the side and top. The weapon mount on the side has a caliber of 5.56 mm. On the upper weapon mount the caliber is 7.62 mm. For seats, the Rantis P6 ATAV has four and one for the shooter.

3. Indonesian Light Strike Vehicle (ILSV) J-Force VVIP 4.5 4×4.

Ranpur fascinates visitors because it successfully combines toughness and luxury. “War does not mean that luxury must be abandoned,” wrote Indonesia Military News Observer on their X account @MilitaryObs_ID, Friday (29/9/2023).

Yes, many people think that the interior of the ILSV J-Force VVIP 4.5 4×4 trailer will be the same as the current trailer, namely stiff and only oriented towards functionality.

In fact, the interior of the ILSV J-Force VVIP 4.5 4×4 can be said to be equivalent to the interior of a Lexus LM modified with VVIP style.

This can be seen from the presence of two large captain seat units that can be adjusted electrically. Not to mention the giant 51 inch screen.

This screen can be used remotely via the remote control provided near the captain’s seat. You could say that ILSV J-Force VVIP 4.5 4×4 passengers will feel comfortable. This is because the entire interior is dominated by leather material.

Appearing luxurious does not mean that the ILSV J-Force VVIP 4.5 4×4 is not tough. Based on a search by MNC Portal Indonesia on the official J-Forces website, it is known that this ranpur has special strength.

PT Jala Berikat Nusantara Perkasa, manufacturer of the ILSV J-Force VVIP 4.5 4×4, stated in official information that the armored vehicle has bulletproof capabilities to the NIJ Level III standard.

“J-Force VVIP is a vehicle designed to protect its passengers from attacks and armed threats. This vehicle can be used to transport two VVIPs such as political figures, governments and presidential vehicles,” they wrote.

From a technical perspective, the J-Force VVIP 4.5 4×4 is no less special. The Ranpur carries the mechanical heart of a V8 4.5 Turbo diesel DOHC engine.

This machine can produce 151 kW of power and a maximum torque of 430 Nm. If you feel that the power is lacking, users can replace it according to their wishes.
