Ferrari seems to fall in love with their main Formula 1 driver, Charles Leclerc. Crash reported, Friday (26/1/2024), Ferrari has allegedly extended his contract with Charles Leclerc until 2029.
It is known that the current contract will end in 2024. So Ferrari feels the need to re-tie the Monaco passport racer for the next five years.
The Gazzetta dello Sport daily said that the contract given by Ferrari to Charles Leclerc had doubled. Five years ago Charles Leclerc was hired as a Formula 1 Ferrari driver with a contract value of 25 million Euros or around IDR 426.4 billion. Now the amount has doubled to 500 million Euros or around Rp. 852.9 billion.
“Termination of the contract will depend on the performance achieved and will be activated after three years of the contract period,” wrote Gazetta dello Sport.
The contract value is fantastic. Moreover, the performance that Charles Leclerc gave to Ferrari was not very outstanding.
Last season he only won five wins from 23 pole positions with Ferrari. This achievement means that Charles Leclerc has to settle for the best fifth position in the 2023 season.
The most beautiful year for Charles Leclerc occurred in the 2022 season where he became Formula 1 runner-up in that season.
Even though he has not been able to realize his dream of winning the world title with Ferrari, this has not dampened Leclerc’s enthusiasm to continue to put his trust in the team.
“Racing for this team has been my dream since I was three years old,” said Leclerc.
“I used to watch the Monaco Grand Prix from the window of a friend’s apartment around the corner from Saint Devote Devote and I always noticed the red cars.
“This team is my second family since I joined the Ferrari driver academy in 2016 and we have achieved a lot together, fighting through ups and downs over the last five years.
“However, I believe the best is yet to come and I can’t wait for this season to start, to make further progress and be competitive in every race. My dream remains to win the World Championship with Ferrari,” he said.
