The government will implement a new policy regarding the criteria for receiving electric motorbike subsidies. This time the opportunity is open to the public because one identity card or KTP can get one electric motorbike.
Previously, based on the Regulation of the Minister of Industry Number 6 of 2023 which took effect in March 2023, there were four categories of people as a condition for obtaining electric motorbike subsidies. The four are recipients of the People’s Business Credit (KUR), MSME players, recipients of wage subsidy assistance, and recipients of electricity subsidies of up to 900 volt amperes.
Now these requirements have been revised to one identity card for one electric motorbike. This is because the absorption of subsidized electric motorbikes has so far been very low.
Even though there is a category revision, the number of quotas set for the 2023 fiscal year is still the same as before, namely 200,000 units. “The quota is fixed so first come first served,” said Peter Kho, Public Relations of the Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Industry Association (AISMOLI).
He said the government had indeed opened up enormous opportunities for people who met the four previous criteria. It’s just that the absorption is still very small.
So now is the time to give equal opportunity to the general public without criteria. It is hoped that the distribution of subsidized electric motorbikes will be faster.
“AISMOLI welcomes this support from the government because it will reduce the contribution of pollution from vehicles. It will also burden the State Budget for oil imports so that it can be used for the construction of infrastructure assets for generations to come,” hoped Peter Kho.
Based on an investigation by MNC Portal Indonesia on the SISAPIRa website, only 36 units of subsidized electric motorbikes have been distributed. Until now, only 1,195 people have registered and 190 have been verified.
The remaining quota available until (2/8/2023) is still at 198,579. It is known that there are eight companies with 13 models of electric motorbikes that can be utilized by the community in this program.
