Women apparently still maintain their distance from electric cars compared to men. Based on research conducted by the UK-based public electric vehicle charging station provider, Bonnet, it appears that women are very cautious about owning electric cars.
In the research, Bonnet surveyed 2,000 electric car drivers. The results show that only one in ten electric car owners are women.
Out of the 2,000 drivers, only 11% of electric car owners are women. “This is a gap that we need to bridge because electric vehicle ownership should be accessible to everyone,” said Patrick Reich, chief executive of Bonnet.
Electric car manufacturers inevitably have to find ways, according to Patrick Reich, to make electric cars appealing to women. The steps taken by Wuling Motors in Indonesia are particularly noteworthy.
Currently, Wuling offers compact electric cars that are not intimidating to female consumers. An example is the Wuling BinguoEV, which adopts a hatchback format.
In terms of dimensions, the Wuling BinguoEV is very suitable for women. This electric car has a compact size but still able to accommodate various user needs in terms of interior space.
However, its main attraction lies in its appearance. The retro-classic style on the exterior with different color choices, and the modern yet timeless ambiance on the interior, certainly boost the confidence of women drivers.
Another factor in the Wuling BinguoEV for women is the elegantly designed and practical cabin. Additionally, the cabin feels spacious due to its ideal headroom and legroom. The modern-looking seats wrapped in two-tone synthetic leather are also comfortable to sit on.
Still inside the cabin, another appealing feature from a woman’s perspective is the spacious trunk. In the BinguoEV, the trunk capacity is relatively large, coupled with two storage boxes that can be closed for added safety and numerous compartments for storing items.
When in use, the Wuling BinguoEV is considered practical for women who don’t want to be bothered when driving an electric car. It comes equipped with Cruise Control for comfortable highway travel. There’s no need to worry about parking in reverse with the Rear Parking Camera and Parking Sensor assistance.
On inclines, anxiety dissipates with the help of features like AVH and Creeping Function, which assist in stopping and moving the car safely.
At least, these features will alleviate the worries that often arise among female drivers, especially when they are faced with challenging road conditions.
Practicality and convenience are also considerations for women when it comes to electric cars. The Wuling BinguoEV is practical in terms of charging as it can be done at home or at public electric vehicle charging stations. Additionally, for ease of owning the BinguoEV, Wuling also offers a lifetime warranty for three main components of the electric car, giving consumers peace of mind.
