Dominating Electric Premium Car Segment, BMW will Bring Two More EV

BMW Group Indonesia promised to bring two more electric cars. Because their sales of premium electric cars are selling well in the market.

It is planned that in the near future two premium electric cars that will be brought by BMW to Indonesia are the BMW iX1 and BMW i5. The two premium electric cars will later complement the premium electric cars already marketed by BMW, namely the BMW iX, BMW i4, BMW i7 and MINI Electric.

“Going forward, BMW Group Indonesia is excited to remind more customers of BMW’s commitment to sustainability and luxury with the upcoming launch of the BMW iX1 and BMW i5 in Indonesia. To continue to build on BMW’s legacy of innovation, we are confident that future BMW i models will embody this dedication. BMW to provide luxury and sustainable performance,” said Ramesh Divyanathan, President Director of BMW Group Indonesia.

He said currently electric cars sold by BMW were well received by the market. In fact, he claims that sales are the highest in the premium electric car segment.

Based on sales data for premium electric vehicles in Indonesia, from January to May 2023, BMW Group Indonesia with its BMW i4, BMW iX, and MINI Electric holds 77 percent of the premium electric vehicle market in Indonesia compared to its competitors.

Ramesh Divyanathan said the excellent reception was proof that electric cars and luxury can complement each other. So electric cars don’t have to appear as they are but can also be present in a luxurious form.

“BMW firmly believes that luxury and sustainability coexist. We do not view our achievements with electric vehicles (EV) as a momentary success, but as a stepping stone towards a greener and more sustainable future for all of us,” explained Ramesh Divyanathan.

The sales record claimed by BMW Group Indonesia is indeed very interesting. This is because the electric cars brought by BMW to Indonesia have a fantastic price tag.

The BMW i4 is currently being sold at IDR 2.108 billion. The BMW iX is priced at IDR 2.398 billion and the BMW i7 or the electric version of the BMW 7 Series has a price tag of IDR 3.407 billion. For MINI Electric, the current price is IDR 1.046 billion.

All of these prices are still in off the road status. This means that the price can be even more expensive when all the documents needed are met.
