The 5-door Suzuki Jimny which was present at the 2024 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) immediately stole the public’s attention. The issue of price is no exception, which apparently makes many people confused.
When it was first launched on February 15 2024, PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) presented four variants of the five-door Suzuki Jimny with differences in transmission and color configuration.
The four variants are the Suzuki Jimny 5 Door (AT) which is sold at IDR 475,600,000, the Suzuki Jimny 5 Door (AT-Dual Tone) with a tag of IDR 478,600,000, the Suzuki Jimny the Suzuki Jimny 5 Door (MT) at a price of IDR 462,000,000, and Suzuki Jimny 5 Door (MT-Dual Tone) released at IDR 465,000,000.
The problem is that a few days later the price of the Suzuki Jimny actually became a big problem. The reason is that several consumers who came to IIMS 2024 to buy a Suzuki Jimny found that there was a difference in the price announced by Suzuki and that given by the sales force.
One content creator in Indonesia, Alitt, even expressed uncertainty about the price. “Failed to buy a 5-door Suzuki Jimny because the price was magical,” said Alitt.
He admitted that he was interested in the price of the Suzuki Jimny 5 door AT, which was priced at IDR 475,600,000. In fact, when he met the salesperson, Alitt found out that the price was different, namely IDR 520,000,000.
“This was less than IDR 50 million and ultimately it didn’t happen,” he explained.
What Alitt experienced was also felt by other consumers. This then raises the question of which price is correct. Price from Suzuki or salesperson.
Harold Donnell, 4W Marketing Director of PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS), admitted that he was aware of this condition. He said, there is a threshold price that must be understood by salespeople and the public.
“We recommend retail prices for the Jabodetabek OTR area at prices from IDR 462,000,000, up to the most expensive at IDR 478,600,000,” said Harold.
Therefore, Harold again asked consumers to report it. If a sales person is found to be raising prices excessively, this can be reported.
“If any practices are found that differ from the recommended retail prices, they can be informed to us via Hallo Suzuki so that we can follow up,” said Harold.
He added, in the automotive industry constellation, the company refers to the regulations of Law Number 5 of 1999 concerning Prohibition of Monopoly Practices and Unfair Business Competition. In Law Number 5 of 1999 Article 1 Paragraph 2 states that monopoly practice is the concentration of economic power by one or more business actors.
