CBU Surprise: Hyundai Ioniq 6 Hits Indonesia!

PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) officially launched the Hyundai Ioniq 6 at the 2023 GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show), at ICE BSD City, Tangerang, Monday (14/8/2023), which consumers can order directly.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 which is marketed in Indonesia is only one variant, namely the AWD (All Wheel Drive) type. The electric car, which is equipped with advanced technology, costs Rp. 1,197,000,000 with Jakarta’s on the road (OTR) status.

Unlike the Hyundai Ioniq 5 which has been produced locally, the Ioniq 6 still has CBU status, aka it is imported intact from abroad. This makes

Astrid Ariani Wijana, Head of Marketing Department HMID, said that the Hyundai Ioniq 6 can already be ordered. He also ensured that his party would try as much as possible to secure the supply.

“If the unit is ready, yes. So for customers who are interested, they can contact their respective dealers. We will ensure delivery as quickly as possible,” said Astrid when met at GIIAS 2023.

As for the units estimated for Indonesia, Astrid emphasized that she had asked for more. He believes the number of orders during GIIAS 2023 will increase, so more supply is needed to ensure consumers don’t have to wait long.

“Regarding the units that have been estimated for Indonesia, of course we will also look at the existing demand while at GIIAS. So that Indonesia can also get enough supply to meet consumer demand as well,” he said.

Astrid also explained why the Hyundai Ioniq 6 has not been produced in Indonesia. He said that the process of carrying out CKD on a vehicle is not easy, and there are many things that need to be processed.

“(The reason Ioniq 6 doesn’t go directly to CKD) Of course, to directly produce locally is not that easy. So we also have homework to ensure the supply of Ioniq 5, especially when there is already momentum so that it can reach consumers as quickly as possible,” he said.

“For example, if you have direct CKD at this time, in my opinion, that is preference. It doesn’t matter if it’s CKD or not, what’s important is that we try to fulfill the potential or opportunities that exist,” he added.
