The national automotive exhibition Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2024 will be enlivened by the presence of manufacturers from China. Several new Chinese Cars brands will also participate, adding to the competition in the country’s automotive industry.
More than 10 brands from China will participate in GIIAS 2024, which will be held at ICE BSD City, Tangerang Regency, from July 18-28. Four of them will introduce themselves as new brands.
The Chinese brands that will take part in GIIAS 2024 include Wuling, Neta, GAC Aion, Chery, BAIC, Great Wall Motors, BYD, MG, Seres, DFSK, and Jetour.
One of the brands that will make an appearance is Jetour, which is under the umbrella of Chery Holding Group. At GIIAS 2024, PT JETOUR Motor Indonesia will launch two new cars and showcase other products.
Yang Fan, President Director of PT JETOUR Motor Indonesia, expressed great enthusiasm for participating in GIIAS for the first time this year. “We are ready to introduce our latest models to consumers in Indonesia. We believe that the Indonesian automotive market has great potential, and we hope to build a good relationship with consumers here,” said Yang Fan in an official statement.
Jetour is a new brand from Chery Holding Group that was officially launched on January 22, 2018. This brand was created to enter the premium segment by offering high-quality and technologically advanced cars at affordable prices.
In its product lineup, Jetour has a large SUV called the Traveller, whose design closely resembles the British SUV, Land Rover. However, this car is sold at a very affordable price, around IDR 300 million.
In the images displayed during the GIIAS 2024 press conference presentation, the car covered in a black cloth did not show the shape of the Jetour Traveller. Instead, the image showed 5- and 7-passenger SUVs, hinting at the Dashing and X70P models.
