Chery Wants to Open RND Facilities in Indonesia, Here’s the Reason

The Chinese car manufacturer in Indonesia, Chery, is apparently very serious about developing in Indonesia. Not only selling new cars, they are also actually ready to build Research and Development (RN) facilities in the country.

Executive Vice President of PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI), Qu Jizong, said there were several reasons why they wanted to build RND in Indonesia. First, Indonesia is a very important market for Indonesia.

This is shown by the increasing acceptance of Chery cars. Second, Chery wants to better understand the production of right-hand drive cars like those in Indonesia.

“Currently, the research facilities we have in several other countries are not right-hand drive. We want the research facilities in Indonesia to focus on right-hand drive cars,” said Qu Jizong.

He further said that the presence of Chery’s research and development facilities in Indonesia would be proof that they wanted to do business in Indonesia for a long time.

“Because we want to do business here for a long time, we already have big plans here. “We also have plans to make RnD in Indonesia, we are confident in Chery’s future,” said Jizong in Jakarta, Friday (1/9/2023).

The RnD facility plan, continued Jizong, is one of the ongoing strategies after the Chinese brand has finished building a factory in Indonesia. Including the projection of making Indonesia the base for their right-hand drive products globally.

“We also want to export to other countries such as Australia and several other countries, this is our big plan for the future. We are not only discussing with the Indonesian government, but also export destination countries,” he added.

Indonesia is said to be an important country for Chery because it has a large area and its market continues to grow. Apart from launching new products, the company is also actively building and expanding its after-sales network throughout the country.

Most recently, CSI officially launched its first 20 service car units for eight dealer network representatives in the Jakarta area and surrounding areas. This is a form of Chery’s 6 Stars program which covers after-sales service for consumers.

“This is just the beginning to help satisfy our customers. While we have big plans for Chery, Indonesian consumers are an important market for us,” said Jizong.

The manufacturer targets to have after-sales service, car service, and dealers including sales, service, spare parts (3S) at 60 points spread throughout Indonesia.
