PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) launched the Tiggo 5X with special pricing for the first 1,000 buyers two weeks ago, and it has quickly attracted hundreds of consumers.
The Vice President of PT CSI, Zeng Shuo, revealed that the response from Indonesian consumers to the Tiggo 5X has been very positive, with some even placing orders since it was first introduced at the IIMS 2024 event in February.
To further this success, Chery is offering various attractive programs at GIIAS 2024. Additionally, several new models will be introduced to provide more options for the Indonesian market.
“Currently, around 300 units have been delivered to consumers. Retail sales have also almost reached that number. We are also preparing special programs for GIIAS 2024 with around 100 orders,” said Zeng Shuo to reporters in Central Jakarta on Monday (8/7/2024).
The Chery Tiggo 5X is currently sold at IDR 249 million on the road in Jakarta for the Classic variant and IDR 279 million for the Champion variant.
Furthermore, Chery also introduced the Tiggo 8, one of the models to be showcased at GIIAS 2024. This 7-seater SUV with a 1.6T engine is specifically designed for Indonesian consumers.
Zeng Shuo explained that this move was taken in response to Indonesian consumers’ demand for a family car with a small engine. However, the exact price cannot be disclosed as it is still under discussion.
“This is still the early stage. We are studying the specifications and pricing, so it is difficult to say definitively,” he explained.
Chery hopes that the presence of the Tiggo 8 will boost sales of the Tiggo Series in Indonesia, especially following the successful launch of the Tiggo 5X, which targets the entry-level segment with high interest.
“We want to increase Tiggo series sales by 50 percent this year. Previously, the Tiggo series contributed about 20-30 percent before the 5X launch, but we hope to reach 50 percent,” said Zeng Shuo.
