President Jokowi immediately reunited with the Hongqi L5 luxury car when he landed at Chengdu Shuangliu Airport, China, Thursday (27/7/2023) yesterday. As soon as he got off the Indonesian Presidential Aircraft, Jokowi was immediately greeted with two Hongqi L5 units.
Interestingly, this car is not foreign to Jokowi. In July 2022, the same car was also used to pick up. The difference is that the pick-up location at that time was Beijing International Airport.
Then what are the features of the Hongqi L5 car? Hongqi L5 is known to be a production of FAW Group Corporation.
Even though it is fully made in China, please do not underestimate the specifications and luxury it carries.
Regarding the engine, this limousine with a weight of more than three tons has two options, namely the 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine with 381 horsepower mated to an automatic acceleration gearbox. Meanwhile, the second engine is a 6.0-liter V12 petrol engine with 408 hp of power which is also matched with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The interior will immediately catch the eye. On the dashboard, the retro scent is very thick, especially on the steering wheel which uses a design like cars in the 1950s.
It’s no wonder that China’s luxury sedan is claimed to be on par with British-made luxury cars, Rolls-Royce. So, currently the car is sold at 6 million Yuan or around Rp. 12.9 billion.
The HHongqi L5 luxury car is also used by Chinese President Xi Jinping as a presidential car. It’s just that the specifications are much different from those used by President Jokowi.
Currently, Xi Jinping is known to use a modified version of the Hongqi L5 called the N501. The limousine was also carried by Xi Jinping when he toured several countries.
Quoting The Standard page, the Hongqi N501 made its debut when Xi Jinping made a visit to Senegal in July 2018. This immediately attracted the attention of manufacturers around the world.
Xi Jinping then also brought the Hongqi N501 to the G20 meeting in Argentina a few months later. Hongqi N501 was also brought to Italy, France, Monaco, Russia, North Korea, Japan and India in 2019.
Hongqi L5 N501 is reportedly not for sale. So only Xi Jinping could be in the car.
