Aismoli Predicts 200.000 Unit Electric Motorcycles Sales Target Difficult to Achieve

Aismoli predicts that the Indonesian government’s desire for electric motorbike sales to reach 200.000 this year will be difficult to achieve. Until November 2023 alone, sales of electric motorbikes will only reach 15.000 units.

Aismoli even estimates that by 2023, sales of electric motorbikes will only reach 25,000 units. This prediction will certainly be very far from the target set by the government, namely 200.000 units by the end of the year.

The government is indeed working hard to realize this target. They have provided a policy in the form of a subsidy of IDR 7 million for electric motorbike buyers. The conditions for obtaining subsidies are also made easier by only including one identity card for one electric motorbike.

General Chairperson of Aismoli Budi Setiyadi said there were several obstacles to the acceptance of electric motorbikes which had not yet reached the target. One of them is each manufacturer’s plan for marketing their products.

However, Budi emphasized that to date there have been 15 thousand registered electric motorbikes, which is a positive thing. This number has increased rapidly compared to previous years, although it is still far from the government’s target.

“200.000 units may not be achieved (by the end of the year). But in November this has reached 15.000 units. “Maybe by the end of the year, hopefully there will be up to 25.000 (electric motorbikes),” said Budi in Jakarta, Tuesday (28/11/2023).

In 2024, Budi believes that sales of electric motorbikes will be better than this year. The reason is, there are 17 electric motorbike factories that are ready to produce various models to offer a variety of choices for the public.

Moreover, next year the government is targeting sales of 600.000 units of electric motorbikes combined with sales in 2023. Therefore, Budi hopes that all electric motorbike manufacturers are committed to presenting the best lines for Indonesian consumers.

“For next year we are ready because the TKDN production capacity is around 17 factories and everything is ready. “Sales of electric motorbikes with the government assistance scheme have reached 15 thousand,” said Budi.

Nevertheless, Budi also revealed that the different strategies of each company were one of the obstacles to sales of electric motorbikes. This makes the products offered have different qualities.

“In terms of business planning, each APM really depends on the resources within the organization. “Maybe it concerns financial and infrastructure issues,” said Budi.
