New BMW X1, Bigger, Bolder, and More Luxurious, Price IDR 877 million

PT BMW Group Indonesia released the latest New BMW X1 SUV car, this Friday (28/7/2023) in Jakarta. The car underwent a very big change compared to the previous BMW X1.

President of PT BMW Group Indonesia Ramesh Divyanathan said that each generation of the BMW X1 has its own design. So every generation always looks different.

“This car is indeed in the entry-level SUV segment, it’s just that it doesn’t make us half-hearted in providing features, technology and luxury,” said Ramesh Divyanathan.

He said the most noticeable change is the dimensions. This car is so large in size that it looks a bit like its bigger sibling the BMW X3.

In addition, the nose that used to be slender is now stronger and bigger. This offsets the typical new BMW grille which is relatively massive.

“This change makes the car look more prominent on the road,” said Ramesh Divyanathan.

Meanwhile, Product Manager of PT BMW Group Indonesia, Anindyanto Dwi Kumoro, said that the BMW X1 has been in Indonesia since 2010. According to him, the third generation BMW X1 has been assembled locally in Indonesia.

He said that in terms of the dimensions of the BMW X1, the length, width and height are 4,500 mm, 1,845 mm and 1,642 mm. The wheelbase has also increased to 2,692 mm in length so that it can provide a more comfortable space.

“This car is getting bigger but not getting heavier. In this car we use materials that are light but still sturdy. For example on the hood of the car,” said Anindyanto Dwi Kumoro.

Another change is a more powerful engine. In the past, the engine used by the BMW X1 could only produce 136 horsepower to 140 horsepower. Now the power is high up to 156 horsepower.

Uniquely, with various changes in design, size, a more powerful engine, and the addition of increasingly sophisticated features, the third generation BMW X1 is actually priced at IDR 877 million off the road.

“Every year this car sells 700 units in Indonesia. We are very confident that this car will be well absorbed in Indonesia,” said Bayu Riyanto, Vice President of Sales for BMW Group Indonesia.
