Mercedes-Benz is trying hard to beat Tesla in the electric car industry. This time they are trying to enter their proud F1 team to make an electric car.
Currently the Mercedes-Benz Formula 1 team is a very large and influential institution. Over the past decade, the Mercedes-Benz Formula 1 team has succeeded in dominating the Formula 1 world car racing event.
That success is what the Mercedes-Benz Formula 1 team wants to share when making electric cars with the Three-Pointed Star logo.
“We have something that other people don’t have. Tesla doesn’t have it, other brands don’t have it either,” said Markus Schaefer, Chief Technology Officer at Mercedes-Benz.
Actually, Mercedes-Benz has already made an electric car that was developed from Formula 1 technology, namely the Mercedes-Benz EQXX. For a year and a half, Mercedes-Benz worked closely with their flagship Formula 1 team to make the car.
Currently, the Mercedes-Benz EQXX has not been sold in bulk. It’s just that the car is a blueprint for the German car manufacturer in producing electric cars.
In addition, they also no longer need to spend time researching electric car supporting components such as batteries, inverters and new generation motors. All of these components have been made by the Mercedes-Benz Formula 1 team.
It is believed that this will cut Mercedes-Benz’s efforts to accelerate the production and uptake of their electric cars.
“Efficiency is the key to being able to accelerate electric cars globally,” said Markus Schaefer.
Meanwhile, Steven Merkt, an analyst from TE Connectivity, said that a heavy burden was indeed on the shoulders of Mercedes-Benz. The car company based in Stuttgart, Germany has been the best-selling luxury car brand for a very long time.
It’s just that the presence of Tesla changed everything. Tesla is currently the best-selling luxury car in the world beating Mercedes-Benz. Moreover, the electric car brand owned by Elon Musk is very innovative in providing new technology.
“There is no other brand that is under more pressure than Mercedes-Benz. They have to work hard so that no one forgets Mercedes-Benz,” said Steven Merkt.
