Game Over, Nurburgring Say Sorry For Slow Car

Nurburgring, the famous and legendary circuit in Germany, will implement a new policy related car speed. Soon, officials in Nurburgring only allow car with minimum speed 130 kilometers per hour to enter the circuit.

Cars that cannot reach that minimum speed simply cannot try the circuit.

This policy contrasts with the previous rules applied at the Nurburgring. To attract tourists to come to the circuit, the Nurburgring management allows everyone to try the asphalt of the circuit with any kinds of cars.

Previously, cars with a top speed of 60 kilometers per hour could still go around the Nurburgring circuit. It’s no wonder that the German circuit is really popular with automotive enthusiasts.

“Every week the number of cars racing on the circuit can reach 2.000 units,” reports the Road and Track website.

Unfortunately, the difference in the ability of the car actually ended up being a problem. Circuit conditions are very dangerous because some cars are too fast and some are too slow.

This makes the potential for an accident very high. The car that too fast will easily get distracted if meet a car that run too slow.

Alexander Gerhard, spokesperson for the Nurburgring circuit, said that currently the number of accidents that occur due to speed differences is still very small. It just doesn’t mean they let the condition go for granted.

“Throughout 809 laps only one accident occurred,” he said.

Going forward he said the Nurburgring circuit would continue to improve safety standards. One way is through the application of artificial intelligence technology or Artificial Intelligence (AI).

For this technology, the Nurburgring circuit is ready to disburse funds of USD12 million or the equivalent of Rp175,9 billion.
