Mitsubishi Triton Claimed Ready to Consume Indonesian Biodiesel

PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) introduced the new Mitsubishi Triton at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) from July 18-28, 2024. This light commercial vehicle comes with a completely new design and a new engine.

Interestingly, amidst these updates, Mitsubishi claims that the new Mitsubishi Triton can still consume biodiesel available in Indonesia. This is surprising, considering many people believe that the quality of biodiesel available is far from ideal for modern diesel vehicles with advanced technology.

“Before its launch, we conducted trials in Indonesia. We tested this vehicle in very harsh environments to assess its durability,” explained Hikaru Mii, Director of Product Strategy Division at PT MMKSI.

Hikaru Mii mentioned that the trials were conducted in April 2024. They tested the vehicle in the regions of Sulawesi and Sumatra.

These locations were chosen because they have ideal terrains to test the toughness of the new Mitsubishi Triton.

Guntur Harling, General Manager of Product Strategy Division at PT MMKSI, even stated that the trials were conducted as freely as possible. They allowed companies conducting the trials to use the available local fuels.

“For market tests in Kalimantan and Sumatra, we informed customers that they could use the fuel they use daily. We wanted to see if there were any issues with that fuel. So far, there have been no significant problems,” he proudly stated.

It is known that the new Mitsubishi Triton is priced at IDR 301.35 million for the Single Cabin GLX 4×2 MT type up to IDR 526.6 million for the Double Cabin Ultimate 4×4 AT type.

In terms of design, the all-new Triton showcases an evolution of the ‘Dynamic Shield’ concept plus the iconic ‘T-Shape’ lights that have become a hallmark of Mitsubishi’s latest vehicles.

Now, the body of this dominant single and double cabin segment vehicle in Indonesia has become larger and more solid, with a modern, high-contrast interior design and high functionality. However, these are not the only advantages of the all-new Triton.

“This vehicle now has higher durability and more stability. The suspension and chassis have been improved and are well-received. Additionally, the new Differential Lock feature is present,” said Hikaru Mii.
